Our Veterinary Service Team
We are home to a team of four veterinarians who are devoted to helping animals. Together, Drs. MacDonald, Edgell, Briggs and Manson have over 50 years of experience and offer a wide range of medical, surgical, and preventive services.
Dr. David MacDonald
Dr. David MacDonald grew up in Nova Scotia then attended the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, obtaining his DVM in 1998. Dr. MacDonald began his career in mixed animal practice and continues to enjoy treating small ruminants and horses. Dr Dave has a special interest in surgery, including orthopedic procedures and also provides regular veterinary services to the remote community of Gold River. Outside of work he enjoys raising sheep on his farm and riding his horses with his wife Dr Edgell.
Dr. Sacha Edgell
Dr Edgell, also a graduate of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998, has a special interests in diagnostic ultrasound, looking after critically ill patients and helping pet owners better understand their animal companions. Outside of work Dr Edgell spends time with her animals including Shroo the blue heeler, Pancho the donkey, and her horses. Dr Edgell particulary enjoys competing in endurance riding on her horses Gabby and Katie.
Dr. Faye Briggs
Dr. Faye Briggs grew up in Thornhill, Ontario and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2000. After moving to the Comox Valley in 2009 she joined the team at Comox Valley Animal Hospital. Dr Briggs is a devoted cat aficionado. Her black cat, Gordon, graciously allows Dr Briggs’ two Rottweilers, Secura and Soloman, to share his home.
Dr. Erin Manson
Dr. Erin Manson grew up in Victoria and after completing a Biology degree at UVic relocated to Edinburgh, Scotland, where she met her husband, Chris. She attended vet school at the Royal Veterinary College in London, England, then spent several years working as a vet in Stirling, Scotland. She has now returned to the Island with Chris and their 2 dogs, Poppy and Fergus.
Dr. Zita Doeschner
Dr. Zita Doeschner was born and raised in Germany and graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine of Hannover in 2001. After relocating to Canada with her husband Jeff and practising in Yukon for several years, she decided to continue her career on the West Coast. Dr. Zita has a soft spot for senior pets, special interests in palliative/end of life care, and enjoys dermatology. You can find her in the outdoors, hiking, biking, or skiing with her Husky X, Juno, when she is not busy chauffeuring her teenage kids around!
